Along the middle path from the main archway it is lined with square stones. Stand along this line behind the stones and you will get a good view of the guards cantering past after change of guards.

The walk around the back of Downing St. and on towards Buckingham Palace is very nice. But only if the gates are open. On this day, they were closed to the public.

The guards change at 11am Mon - Sat and 10am on a Sunday. Get there 10 mins early. A great (free) spectacle to watch
